The Akita Dog

The Akita is a large spitz breed of dog originating from the mountainous northern regions of Japan.
The Akita is a strong, independent and dominant breed, commonly aloof with strangers but affectionate with family members.
They are known to compete in many dog competition sports, yet are known to be intolerant of other dogs and require a knowledgeable and firm handler.

“If ever there was an angel in fur, it was Kamikaze-Go. I know I shall never feel quite the same tenderness for any other pet.
The Akita dog has all the qualities that appeal to me — he is gentle, companionable and trusty.” - Helen Keller in the Akita Journal.
